This is a dependency-free collection of interlinked HTML pages generated from seven supplied plain-text transcriptions.
What is included
Every literary chapter of all seven novels is rendered in the reading room. Each paragraph has a stable passage anchor. The encyclopedia contains 112 entries, and article aliases or documented variant queries create citations back into those anchored paragraphs.
How links work
Within each chapter, the first substantial mention of an encyclopedia subject is linked with a quiet dotted underline. The chapter rail lists those notes. In the other direction, encyclopedia source panels link to up to two representative passages in every chapter where the subject’s name or a known alias appears; textual-variant records link every affected passage explicitly.
Text and rights
The supplied files identify themselves as Project Gutenberg Canada ebooks and state that the works are in the Canadian public domain. Their notices also advise readers outside Canada to check the copyright law of their country. The reading text follows the supplied transcriptions except where an edition note explicitly documents a selected textual variant; The Voyage of the Dawn Treader defaults to Lewis’s later American revisions in Chapters I and XII.
Extending the archive
Book metadata lives in src/data/books.js; encyclopedia records live in src/data/articles.js; documented edition differences live in src/data/textual-variants.js; and the book-grounded historical chronology lives in src/data/timeline.js. Run node build.js after adding an entry. The generator resolves variant and timeline passages, discovers citations and text links, and updates categories, counts, and search records automatically.
